Operation Help Food Drive

Bill McGourley, left, of New Gretna, gives a canned goods donation to Pete Feliciano, of Hammonton, a truck driver for the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, outside Chickie’s & Pete’s in Egg Harbor Township. McGourley said he read about the event in the paper and went to ShopRite to buy items for the food drive. Operation Help, an initiative by Longport Media stations, raises donations of cash, frozen turkeys, frozen hams, nonperishables and canned goods. See video from Operation Help at

Help in the fight against hunger this Thanksgiving with Longport Media and Community FoodBank of New Jersey’s OPERATION HELP donation drive.

From Saturday to Wednesday, Nov. 18 to 22, bring non-perishable food items like canned soups, meals in a can, peanut butter and jelly, canned tuna, cereal, pasta or rice to one of the drop off locations.

They include: Operation Help Headquarters at Chickie’s & Pete’s in Egg Harbor Township (accepting donations 24 hours a day), located at 6055 E. Black Horse Pike, as well as the Egg Harbor Township Police Department, 3515 Bargaintown Road. WMGM’s morning show hosts Matt and Karle will “camp out for a cause” outside of Chickie’s & Pete’s during the event, starting at noon on Saturday.

Live broadcasts will also take place in conjunction with operation help. Catch WMGM’s Sean Patrick’s 24-hour broadcast on Saturday, and 1400 WOND’s Scott Cronick’s show on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m.
