EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — This week, the Ocean Heights Presbyterian Church will open an art exhibit by artist Paule Saviano, who among his other works, will display his photography collection called “Embrace.”

Embrace is an on-going project by Saviano, who has been photographing transgender, intersex and gender non-binary people from across the world. Starting in 2016, “Embrace” focused on children and young people. It has since expanded to include adults of all ages. To date, the project includes people from America, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Scotland and Japan.

Saviano is scheduled to be at the church to hang his portraits on Wednesday, Aug. 16. His exhibit will continue in the church’s community art gallery from Aug. 20 to Sept. 17.

In recent years, transgender, intersex and gender non-binary rights have become an increasingly visible, according to a release by the church.

The aim of “Embrace” is to show how transgender, intersex and gender non-binary people are not confined to one country, culture or age group, according to the press release. Through collecting a large number of portraits, “Embrace” demonstrates the immensely diverse range of identities and experiences.

The church is located at 2116 Ocean Heights Ave., Egg Harbor Township. Call 609-788-0271.
