A.C. Weekly's second annual Burger Bash was a smashing success, with Vagabond Kitchen & Tap House taking home the crown!
A thousand guests came out to The Deck at Golden Nugget on Saturday, May 20, and ate an unlimited amount of sliders from 22 Atlantic County restaurants. Patrons then voted for their favorite burger, while A.C. Weekly's Fat Boys — Scott Cronick and Ryan Loughlin — chose their own faves in the following categories:
- Where's the Beef: The winner in this category went to the best non-beef burger, in this case Gallagher's/Broadway Burger Bar, for its buffalo chicken burger.
- Thinking Outside the Bun: Most original burger went to Olon for its Iberico Secreto Burger with shishito escabeche, miso-glazed pineapple and cilantro aioli.
- It's Better with Bacon: Guy Fieri's Chophouse won this for its Bacon Mac 'N Cheese Burger
- Heart-Attack Burger: The most fattening, yet delicious burger, went to Hi Point Pub's Stockton Savage Burger filled with onion rings, bacon, cheese, hot blue/ranch and even mozzarella sticks.
The Top 3 burgers, voted on by Burger Bash guests, went to:
1st Place: Vagabond's Dough Boy with pork roll, American cheese, caramelized onions, spicy ranch dressing deep fried in puff pastry.
2nd Place: Margate Dairy Bar's MDB Burger with a proprietary Pat LaFrieda short rib/brisket blend, lettuce, tomato, cheese, pickles and "secret sauce."
3rd Place: Vic & Anthony's Bacon, Beer & Onion Burger with dijon mustard.
