DAMN THE TORPEDOES

What to Expect: The Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band Damn the Torpedoes kicks off the Pavilion in the Pines Summer Concert Series, sponsored by the Lizzie Rose Music Room. The outdoor series is held at the Atlantic Shore Pines Campground, 450 Ishmael Road in Tuckerton. Damn the Torpedoes was founded by singer/songwriter/guitarist Rich Kubicz in 2007 and takes its name from the third studio album by the Rock & Roll Hall of Famers. The band recreates both the sound and appearance of the Heartbreakers, with Kubicz bearing a striking resemblance to the band’s late frontman Tom Petty. Heartbreakers fans can expect to hear the hits “Free Fallin’,” “American Girl,” “I Won’t Back Down,” “Breakdown,” “Even the Losers,” “Refugee,” “Don’t Do Me Like That,” “You Tell Me,” “Listen To Her Heart,” “A Woman In Love,” “I Need to Know” and others.

MOTOWN FOREVER

Where: Bally’s Atlantic City

What to Expect: An accomplished cast of singers, dancers and musicians pay tribute to the many R&B and soul greats who came to define the Motown sound, when music and lyrics told stories, shared feelings, and touched lives in special ways. Along with a talented cast, Motown Forever blends stunning costumes and choreography into a highly entertaining tribute concert at Bally’s Grand Ballroom. The show features the music of the Four Tops, the Supremes, the Jackson 5, the Temptations, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, the Marvelettes and others. THE RAT PACK: BACK IN TOWN

What to Expect: The Rat Pack: Back in Town pays tribute to three renowned entertainers whose careers were all deeply rooted in the Atlantic City entertainment scene — Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis, Jr. The cast impersonates the late legends’ voices, styles and mannerisms in impressive fashion. The show also includes a Marilyn Monroe impersonator singing “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend.” The show runs 7 p.m. Saturdays and 4 p.m. Sundays throughout the summer at Hard Rock’s Sound Waves theater. Rat Pack fans can expect to hear such hit renditions as “That’s Amore,” “Ain’t That A Kick In the Head” and “Everybody Loves Somebody” by Martin; “The Candy Man,” “I’ve Gotta Be Me,” “That Old Black Magic” and “Mr. Bojangles” by Davis; and “New York, New York,” “My Way,” “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” “Fly Me to the Moon” and “It Was A Very Good Year” by Sinatra.

BILLY WALTON BAND

Where: Atlantic Shore Pines Campground, Tuckerton

What to Expect: A bona fide guitar virtuoso, Billy Walton returns to his hometown of Tuckerton when he and his band perform as part of the Pavilion in the Pines Summer Concert Series, hosted by the Lizzie Rose Music Room. The Billy Walton Band is the second of 21 scheduled outdoor gigs at the Atlantic Shore Pines Campground, 450 Ishmael Road in Tuckerton. Walton is backed up by bassist William Paris, sax player Tom Petraccaro, trumpet player Bruce Krywinski, keyboardist Eric Safka and drummer Shane Luckenbough. The Billy Walton Band has written and recorded many original songs, but Pines Series show-goers will recognize the group’s covers of songs by Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the Temptations, the Rolling Stones, Chicago, ZZ Top, the Spencer Davis Group and others.

LEZ ZEPPELIN

Where: Landis Theater in Vineland

What to Expect: Kicking off Girls Rock Weekend at the Landis Theater is the all-female quartet Lez Zeppelin, which was founded in New York City in 2004 by guitarist Steph Paynes. The band has since gained critical acclaim as the first all-girl act to impressively pay homage to legendary British rockers Led Zeppelin, using much of the same vintage equipment the original band used to recreate their sound. At the Landis, Lez Zeppelin will be performing the original group’s 16-times platinum album from 1975, “Physical Graffiti,” which includes the blockbuster hits “Houses of the Holy” and “Kashmir,” as well as “Custard Pie,” “The Rover,” “In My Time of Dying,” “In the Light,” “Down by the Seaside,” “Boogie with Stu,” “The Wanton Song” and “Black Country Woman.” Joining Paynes on stage are lead vocalist Marlain Angelides, drummer Leesa Harrington Squyres and bassist/keyboardist Joan Chew.

LILIAC

What to Expect: Liliac is a female-fronted band from California consisting of five siblings ages 12 to 21. Raspy-voiced 18-year-old Melody Cristea is backed up by her brothers Samuel, Ethan and Justin on guitar, bass and keyboards, respectively, and her sister Abigale on drums. The quintet released an EP of original material in 2019 called “Chain of Thorns,” and recently released an all-original 13-song album called “Queen of Hearts.” Among the cover songs fans will recognize as part of the Landis’ Girls Rock Weekend are “Hit Me With Your Best Shot” by Pat Benatar, “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” by Joan Jett, “Somebody to Love” by Grace Slick, “That’s What I Like About You” by the Romantics, “Wild Thing” by the Troggs and “Dancing in the Dark” by Bruce Springsteen.

GLEN BURTNIK’S SUMMER OF LOVE

What to Expect: The Summer of Love concert is a unique concept created by former Styx band member Glen Burtnik that celebrates the music of the Woodstock era — a pivotal moment in music history that defined what became known as the counterculture generation. The show features tribute acts replicating the looks and sounds of artists such as Janis Joplin, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Tina Turner, Sly and the Family Stone, Jimi Hendrix, the Doors and others. The show runs every Friday and Sunday through Aug. 29 at Ocean Casino Resort’s Ovation Hall.

VIXEN

What to Expect: Vixen bills itself as the only all-female hard-rock band from the 1980s to sell more than one million albums and produce six No. 1 videos on MTV. The band’s eponymous debut album was released in 1988 and included the first of its five Billboard Top-40 singles, “Edge of a Broken Heart.” Once dubbed the “female Bon Jovi,” other Vixen hits that fans can expect to hear to wrap up the Landis’ Girls Rock Weekend are “Cryin’,” “Love Made Me,” “Waiting for the Big One” and “In and Out of Love.” The group has undergone several incarnations since its glam-band ’80s origin, with its current lineup consisting of lead vocalist Lorraine Lewis, bassist Sharon Ross, guitarist Britt Lightning and drummer Roxy Petrucci, all of whom are also Lewis’ backup singers.

MASTERS OF ILLUSION — LIVE!

What to Expect: Starring some of the world’s most astounding magicians, Masters of Illusion combines “fantasy, fervor and flair” with comedy, cutting-edge illusions and incredible arts of deception most days through Aug. 4 at Harrah’s Concert Venue. Performers from around the world have been practicing their craft live in front of tens of thousands of people in 126 countries, plus millions of viewers on the CW Network. The show features extreme crossbow expert and death-defying escape artist Ben Blaque; illusionist Dan Sperry, who was voted the most original magician on FOX TV’s “World Magic Awards”; popular comedy magician Farrell Dillon; and the French-born sleight-of-hand artist Titou.

THE MACHINE

What to Expect: For more than 30 years, The Machine has been recognized as America’s top Pink Floyd tribute show, performing across North America, Europe and Asia. The New York-based quartet performs a diverse mix of The Floyd’s extensive 16-album repertoire, complete with renditions of the British band’s popular hits as well as some deeper cuts. The Machine’s shows include laser lights by the same company that provides the renowned special effects for the original band. Floyd fans can expect to hears such hits as “Comfortably Numb,” “Another Brick in the Wall,” “Money,” “Have a Cigar,” “Shine On You Crazy Diamond,” “Time,” “Wish You Were Here” and others. QUEST FOR THE RING CHAMPIONSHIP FISHING WEEK

What to Expect: Legendary football coach and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Jimmy Johnson is extending the world-class fishing tournament he has hosted for the last nine years in south Florida into Atlantic City. The Quest for the Ring Championship Fishing Tournament is a six-day, high-stakes sportfishing experience headquartered at the Frank S. Farley State Marina at Golden Nugget. A $5,000 general entry fee includes a kickoff party, a week-long Golden Nugget Hospitality Village, a team dine-around night at various participating restaurants, and of course big-game fishing, where a $1 million guaranteed purse will be divided among the top-two heaviest white marlin, blue marlin, tuna, wahoo and dolphin (mahi-mahi).
