5 reasons to check out the revamped Pool After Dark

  • 0

The Pool After Dark just got a lot classier … and more interesting.

Harrah’s Resort Atlantic City’s gorgeous, domed pool has been a hot spot – by day or night — ever since it debuted in 2008 with the magnificent Waterfront Tower.

At one point, The Pool was a Top 5 revenue-generating club in the United States, right up there with the biggest clubs in Las Vegas and New York.

But, times change, and after the pandemic, Harrah’s executives decided it was time for a concept update, especially after witnessing guests enjoying dining on the outside terrace, where Gordon Ramsay Steak temporarily relocated last summer when casino restaurants were shuttered because of COVID.

Here are 5 reasons you should check out the new Pool After Dark experience.

Vibe DiningThe centerpiece of the new Pool After Dark is “Vibe Dining,” which is something Atlantic City hasn’t seen since the days of Bacchanal at Caesars and when a French entrepreneur tried to turn the former Camelot Steakhouse into a cirque dining experience. The Pool After Dark is far different from both of those. Guests can grab a seat at the multiple bars, tableside dining along the pool or even reserve a private cabana and host a personal dinner party while the larger party takes place throughout the venue. All of the plates are intricately arranged, gorgeously presented and meant for sharing. Highlights include the stunning truffle mac ’n’ cheese stuffed lobster in which a 3-pound fresh Maine lobster is stuffed with creamy lobster mac ’n’ cheese with parmesan crumbs and winter truffles; a shellfish tower with chilled lobster, jumbo shrimp, colossal crab, oysters and clams, served with a Bloody Mary; a variety of sliders with waffle fries; an awesome dim sum platter filled with everything from dumplings to spring rolls to skewers; short rib, shrimp and vegan tacos; a sushi mixer that is simply extraordinary; flatbreads; salads; and even a 40-ounce, prime Tomahawk steak. Dining hours are 7 to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

The EntertainmentThe next part of the “vibe dining” is the entertainment. While noshing on superb plates and sipping summery cocktails, top-name DJs create the music vibe, including the awesome Chris Devine on Friday, July 30, and Paola Shea on Saturday, July 31. Meanwhile, a large stage features everything from fire dancers to acrobats while percussionists and musicians stroll around tables and mermaids swim in the pool. The DJ list will continue to grow, including “Jersey Shore” star Pauly D jumpstarting his new residency Labor Day weekend. The party continues after dining stops with entertainment and music going until 3 a.m.

The CocktailsLike the food, everything is over the top at The Pool After Dark, and the cocktails are no exception. Not only do they taste amazing, but they are some of the prettiest cocktails you will find in Atlantic City. Some of our favorites include the Poolside Passion with Patron Silver, pineapple and fresh lime juice muddled with serrano and mint; the Calma with Absolut Citron vodka, Cointreau and pink lemonade served over crushed ice and garnished with an ice dome, cucumber and edible flower; the Cloud 9 with local Alibi Gin, grape jam and fresh lemon juice topped with ginger ale and garnished with an ice dome and cotton candy; the Hawaiian Mule with Bacardi coconut rum, pineapple-orange juice, agave nectar and ginger beer served in a copper pineapple garnished with Pineapple fronds; and the Summer of 1738 with Remy Martin 1738, Cointreau, pineapple juice and a squeeze of lime topped with mezcal served smoked at your table.

Bottle ServiceNo club would be worth its salt without amazing bottle service, and The Pool After Dark’s rivals any in the city. Whether you are celebrating a bachelor or bachelorette party, a birthday or just need to release some steam after a hard week, the VIP Experience is top notch. Sure, everyone has magnum bottles of Tito’s and ice-cold bottles of Dom, but where else can you do it in Atlantic City inside a cabana, on a poolside daybed, in a private hot tub or in a large party bungalow where it’s always a balmy 82 degrees year round with palm trees surrounding you and LED walls flashing? That’s right … only The Pool After Dark. Reservations recommended.

The LoftIf you are looking for a more bird’s-eye view or if you just want to get away from the more crowded main floor, head to The Loft Balcony, which presents a gorgeous view of the action amid the tropical paradise of The Pool. Designed to be the ultimate VIP experience, pop bottles at your private table, or maybe even step outside on the terrace for some fresh air.
